Looking and Feeling
Even in the previous chapters, negroponte mentions the capabilities of a computer that he envisions and believe we will have in the future. This chapter is devoted to the computer having "eyes". It being able to recognize our face. And being able to tell our mood, what were looking at and for, and a lot more.
Another thing is replacing the mouse with our finger. Sort of like touch screen. In other words, he is saying that using a mouse can be quite a drag (no pun intended) at times. Besides, it was invented for pointing at text, he says, so the problem of how to draw still remains.
He shares with the readers reasons given to him why fingers can't be used instead of a mouse. All of which he doesn't believe. To name a few - you cover what you are pointing at, finger is stubby and dirties the screen.
He ends the chapter by saying that the computer with "eyes" will be even better with "speech".
