Commingled Bits
Multimedia is the star of this chapter. Starting with an example of Madonna and how her old songs and videos are being reused now and are still selling with the help of media.
It takes quite a long time for a new medium to gain its respect from us. Sometimes, it seems better to just stick with what we already know. Almost as if we are scared of trying out new things. Negroponte points out that it took 32 years "..for people to think of moving a movie camera, versus just letting the actors move in front of it. It took 32 years to think of adding sound. Sooner or later, dozens of would emerge to give a totally new vocabulary to film and video."
We tend to be contented with what we have and somehow overlook and put aside improvements that could be made.
But in this high-tech world now, I think that, little by little, we are beginning to understand that we have to keep up with technology's pace. Now that we've seen what is possible, we end up wanting more.
